Suwaidi Pearls
The Suwaidi Pearls Farm was established in 2005 by prominent Emirati Abdulla Al Suwaidi, and is the first farm of its kind in the Gulf region. The farm cultivates the Pinctada Radiata, otherwise known as the Gulf pearl oyster, using locally sourced molluscs that live in the natural creek in Al Rams.
Abdulla Al Suwaidi’s Family, Al Suwaidi is intrinsically linked to the history of pearling era in the Gulf, dating back to 12th and 13th centuries, and belonging to the Julfar dynasty, Ras Al Khaimah, UAE. The family background traces back to life in the Gulf region that has been entwined with the jewel of the ocean for over 7000 years. His ancestors carried on with pearling for generations leading finally to the 20th century with his grandfather Mohammed Bin Abdulla Al-Suwaidi as being one of the last remaining pearl divers of the Al Suwaidi legacy.
